THATTA: Sindh Inspector General of Police Allah Dino Khawaja has said that
the polici
ng laws of 1861 need to be changed now, as these old polici
ng laws were enacted by the British rulers to enslave the local people.
Addressing the inaugurati
on ceremony of the first modern police reporting centre in Thatta, he said we are an independent nation as we should amend
the police laws to make citizen-friendly. “If we failed to facilitate our own people, history would not forgive us,” he added.
He sought a change in present policing cult
ure and root out corruption from
the police system. He said the department was determined to change the Thana cult
ure and for this reason more police reporting centres would be o
pened in different cities and towns of Sindh.
He said overall 136 police reporting centres would be established in Sindh and out of them 50 in Hyderabad alone. DIG Hyderabad KhadimHussain Rind and others also spoke on the occasion.
